Membership
is open to all who are qualified to engage in the professional
practise of health, fitness, beauty and alternative therapies.
Applicants need to be able to demonstrate that their diplomas
comply with national or state regulations to practise and/or
that they possess diplomas awarded by independent examination
boards whose training syllabuses are approved by employers
and professional associations.
Example
of organisations whose qualifications are acceptable are
:- ITEC, IHBC, VTCT, VAI, CIBTAC, CIDESCO, CITY & GUILDS,
NVQs & SQAs etc. Internally awarded therapy diplomas
from individual schools & other training establishments
can be accepted if the training syllabus has been validated
by IPTI. Some therapists possess considerable skill borne
of experience rather than formal training, applications
are welcome and subject to satisfactory evidence of skill.
Insurance cover is normally available on terms similar to
those with formal qualifications.
Membership
including participation in the association's group insurance
scheme is renewable annually on 1st March each year (fees
are reduced for therapists joining part way through the
insurance year). Purchase of cover under the Memeber's insurance scheme is optional in respect of public and products liability and Members are free to choose a limit of indemnity of either £1 million or £2 million in respect of this cover dependent upon their own requirements.
