ADDITIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE EXTENSIONS
There are three extensions available to the general Member's policy. These have been added over the years to meet requests from our members and have become popular.
1. Optional Extension 1
A Public Liability indemnity limit of £5 million is available for members who lease or operate in a third party premises where the third party requires such a limit. Additional premiums for this option can be seen on the application form.
2. Insurance extension for further professional training
Normal student cover requires that the student should be 'under the direct supervision of a qualified tutor'. This means that case study work carried out independently by a student may well not be covered by any insurance cover the trainingschool may hold. The existing insurance of any current member can be extended to include independent work undertaken whilst compiling case studies by any approved training course. There is no additional premium but a £10.00 administration charge is made as the training has to be registered and monitored throughout the course. On the successful completion of training the new practitioner qualification is automatically added to the Member's insurance.
3. Insurance for part-time teaching
Teaching of practitioner skills is treated as a seperate risk and is, therfore, not included in the basic cover. A teaching extension is available to current members who undertake limited practitioner teaching, say 1 day a week or 1 or 2 weekends a month. The additional cost of a teaching extension is given by means of an additional quotation. The insurers calculate the premium by considering the subject/s taught. The amount of teaching undertaken and the average number of student in a class. Teachers are expected to possess a teaching qualification and those without are expected to obtain a formal qualification within a year of their first teaching proposal being accepted.
